Air Nippon Airways (ANA), the largest airline in Japan, has announced the launch of an aeronautical-themed non-fungible tokens (NFTs) marketplace in partnership with its subsidiary, ANA Neo. The marketplace, called ANA GranWhale NFT Marketplace, aims to connect the airline industry with Web3 technology.

The development of the ANA Neo’s GranWhale marketplace began in August 2023 as a virtual travel platform that utilized VR technology to recreate global destinations and cultures in the form of metaverse parks. Now, the platform has expanded to include an NFT marketplace.

The inaugural NFT collection on the marketplace has been created by aerial photographer Luke Ozawa. The collection will include a digital photo converted to an NFT, which will be sold at auction along with the positive film used in its development, priced at 100,000 yen.

In addition to Ozawa’s collection, the marketplace will also feature a second collection representing the NFT image conversion of the first Boeing 787 operated by ANA. This collection will consist of 1,574 items and will be sold as 3D model airplanes at a price of 7,870 yen.
